Why I wear the same thing everyday

If you ever see me walking on the street, first of all please say hi.

Second of all, I can almost guarantee that I’ll probably be wearing 1 of 2 outfits, depending on which country I’m in.

In the UK: A black t-shirt, black jeans, a black leather jacket, with black boots. And in Malaysia: A black t-shirt, grey shorts, with white sneakers.

(Probably you): But why do you do it?

Because I want to challenge social norms and encourage free speech in the pursuit of a better future for humanity.

OK, but seriously though. It’s more to do with the idea of what’s important in my life, and what I enjoy.

In my life, wearing different things to impress random people on the street isn’t very important to me. I’d much rather form a deeper, more meaningful relationship with an individual, than to have someone compliment me on my fashion sense.

It’s not that I don’t care about what people think of me, or that I have no self-respect. It’s because I don’t care about what people think about the clothes that I’m wearing. But what I do care about is if they think I’m a good person; compassionate, friendly, helpful. Wearing different clothes will not change that.

(Probably you): Does it ever get boring?

Nope. The outfit that I wear is my favourite outfit. I love wearing black, I know I look good wearing it, and its extremely comfortable. So why would I ever change it?

(Probably you): Wow, I’m so happy for you, but I could never do that because I’m a (insert justification).

I know wearing the same thing everyday isn’t for everyone, and that’s fine. We all have our own preferences.

But before you calmly explain to me why you can’t, and as harsh as it sounds, I’m here to tell you that I don’t care. I truly don’t. It’s your life, and your life only. Are you really going to want to listen to me say that I hate your fashion sense? Are you really going to want to become my friend if I judge you for wearing the same thing everyday? Of course not!

There’s a quote by a YouTuber called Lefie that sums this idea up well. “Those who matter don’t mind ,and those that mind don’t matter”. Why would you want to be associated with someone who judges you for surface level things like your fashion sense?

The people closest to you are obviously going to support you, so you don’t need to worry about them judging you, or ending the relationship just because you wear the same thing everyday.

Wear the same thing everyday if you want to, or don’t. At the end of the day, what matters is what you think matters.

By the way, If you’re wondering where I buy my t-shirts from, they’re all from Uniqlo (Men’s Supima Cotton t-shirts in black).

I’ve tried many brands and fits in the past, but these are the best value for money that I’ve found, especially if they get used often like mine do. If holes ever do appear, I can just buy another one for around £10.
