- Ryan Holiday, Stillness is the Key (p.1)

This quote from Ryan Holiday’s book really stuck with me. In this context he talks about our information diet: the the quality of information and knowledge we consume on a daily basis.
This statement made me think of the similarities between our food diet and informational diet; both are a thing we voluntarily ingest, but if we are not mindful about what we are ingesting, we can quickly fall into low quality sources of nourishment.
Just like the old saying, ‘you are what you eat’, the same is true for both types of our diet – food and informational. We must apply this to the information we feed our brains. If we eat low quality, fast-paced content with no real depth, then our thoughts will naturally follow suit.
But the same is also true in the opposite direction. If we absorb the good kind of information, the kind of information that replenishes us, gives us insights, and that have been tested many times over, then our thoughts and actions will act accordingly.
