The Illusion of the 'Digital' Life

So I’ve recently been spending more time online lately. Maybe it’s due to the fact that I’m still unemployed and have no idea what I’m doing with my life, so I scroll the internet endlessly trying to numb the fear of what I’m going to do for the rest of my life.
Anyway, onto the blog post…
Online life is not real life. And I have made the mistake of treating them as the same thing, when really, they couldn’t be more different.
If you look at it objectively, the apps and websites we use are no more than millions of lines of code designed to keep us addicted to our screens. It’s not real. It’s an online world fabricated to be more enticing than the one we are supposed to be living.
So what life did people live before the internet? Well, they went outside.
If you walk out your front door, you’ll come to realise that real life is what’s right in front of you, right in this moment.
It’s the rain pouring down on a cold night, it’s the people running for their train before the doors close, it’s the smell of smoke in the air from the cars on the street (yes, I live in a busy city). It may not always be pretty, but it’s real life.
Real life is what happens when you unplug and disconnect from the world. Don’t forget it.
Great way to view your life in the real world, take daily breaks from internet for a few hours to indulge all the senses in real terms.
