Start before you're ready

I’ve started podcasts, YouTube channels, Instagram accounts for my designs, and I’ve even done graphic design work for a multinational company (which I absolutely hated every minute of).
Even though I didn’t follow through on many of these projects, I didn’t (and still don’t) regret any of it.
What I do regret is not starting these endeavours earlier.
Your mind will give you all the excuses in the world to delay starting.
“I’ll start when I’m less stressed at work”
“I’ll start after buying more gear first”
“I’ll just do it tomorrow”
If you only start when you feel ready, you’re never going to start.
These limiting beliefs only do us harm, and prevent us from living a more fulfilling life.
Consider the analogy of birds. Most of them are born with the innate ability to fly, being able to soar effortlessly in the sky.
But yet, even birds require time and practice to learn how to fly, being forced by their parents to fall from their nest over and over again.
Through trial and error, they realise that it may be be easier to fall if they opened their wings slightly.
And during this process, they’ll slowly master the skill of flight.
If these birds tried to fly only when they felt ready, none of them would be able to fly at all; they probably would be too scared about falling to feel ready.
To finish off, here’s an extremely corny quote I found online, but one that I feel ties this topic together well:
“You don’t need to be good to start,
but you need to start to be good”.
