Pop-ups

Visit any modern website and you’ll find it.

Pop-ups.

Pop-ups for new content, discounts, email listings, and even welcome notes.

They are one of many things that continue to annoy me online.

Displaying a pop-up is similar to shoving a table sized poster into people’s faces when they walk through your door to come say hi.

Not a very pleasant experience, and it rarely even works.

To add to the annoyance, most of them have an almost invisible ‘x’ button on varying sides of the screen.

This makes me doubly annoyed because now I have this pop-up that I didn’t ask for, and I’m also wasting my time trying to figure out how to get rid of it.

You want people to enter and leave your website with a positive experience, because why wouldn’t you?

It makes it far more likely that they’ll come back again, and they might even join your email list if they find your content engaging.
