No you’re not stupid, it’s just bad design.

Good design is invisible.
You don’t hear people going out of their way to comment on how a door ‘just works’, or how the shower is ‘so easy to use’.
Bad design sticks out like a sore thumb.
I guarantee that you’ve used the shower in a hotel room, and you had no idea how to turn the water, let alone change the temperature to your desired preference. You’re naked, alone, cold, and you could probably feel a lot better if you could just figure out how to use this darn thing!
We expect the objects we interact with everyday to work without any hassle.
In fact, these objects are supposed to help us in our day-to-day life.
But it’s difficult to convince the large corporations that we need better design, not just more design.
We need to take a step back and ask the question: Why? Why are we even designing this thing in the first place? Only then, will we truly be able to have more good design in the world.
