Acting with emotion

A lot of times in my life, I have taken the easy way out.

I ate the chocolate bar instead of the apple. I lay in bed instead of going to the gym. I played video games instead of writing the blog post.

In the moment, it’s easy to forget what the bigger picture or goal is.

And sometimes, these actions don’t only affect us, but the people around us too. It’s easy to shout at the significant other when we've had a bad day, or to yell in our car when we get cut off.

But every time we choose not to act with emotion, and instead pause before doing, is one step closer to being a better human being. That split second pause between thinking and doing makes all the difference.

It may be harder to control our emotions in the moment, but it's always worth it in the long run.
